An old Willsbridge mill tradition brought back.
🍎✨ The Tradition of Wassailing ✨🍎
Wassailing is an ancient English custom dating back hundreds of years. Originally, villagers would gather in orchards each winter to sing, dance, and make a joyful noise to “wake” the fruit trees from their slumber. Cider was poured around the roots, toast was hung in the branches for the robins, and everyone joined in with music and cheer to bless the trees and ensure a bountiful harvest.
Over time, wassailing also became a community festivity, with people sharing a warming bowl of spiced cider (the “wassail”) and singing songs door to door.
Our version is a little different, but definitely celebrating all things apple 🍎
By bringing back this tradition, we’re not just celebrating good food and drink – we’re reconnecting with our land, our history, and each other. 🌳🍏🎶
